Establishing Public-Private Partnerships for Environmental Projects.

S.I.D.E strategy is to integrate the interests of  corporate foundations committed to sustainable development, with relevant NGO's and  Universities to assure that their financing of projects is truly beneficial to local communities and to the environment.

 Projects currently active:

The Madrean Archipelago Biodiversity Assessment: MABA  is a project of the Sky Island Alliance based in Tucson Arizona. It is focused on the Wilderness area of the four States of Arizona, New Mexico in the U.S. and the States of Sonora and Chihuahua in Mexico. Financed largely by the Veolia Environment Foundation based in Paris, France and by other foundations, NGO's and Government Agencies, the Assessment is a 3 year, Scientific project that will establish baseline data on all flora and fauna in this 70.000 square mile "hotspot" designated area.

TARA Oceans
is a 3 year, marine based, scientific expedition financed by The Veolia Environment Foundation, agnes b., French Government and private  agencies . It is studying the climate change effects on plankton and coral reefs. . www.taramarineexpeditions.org

The Global Alliance Against Cholera
(G.A.A.C) is financed largely by the Veolia Environment Foundation. It is a pilot project in Africa focus on the prevention of cholera in the Democratic Republic of Congo.



Earlier experiences:

- Identifying new sources of medicinal plants for alternative health practices;
- Converting coastal seaweed pollution into commercially viable products;
- Bringing potable water and sanitation facilities to neglected communities;
- Organizing the financing of Solar Home Systems in rural areas for electricity to improve education and employment opportunities;
- Assisting in the establishment of biodiversity demonstration projects focused on endangered tropical plants and trees
- Contributing toward economic  development of  indigenous communities.
